Exhibition at The Learning Resource Centre, Wimborne

I am currently exhibiting some of my framed prints and some original sewn artwork at the Learning Resource Centre in Wimborne. It is great to see my work exhibited in a public space in my home town, makes me realise how much I have achieved over the past couple of years!

And to top it off, some lovely visitors to the exhibition were kind enough to leave some comments on my artwork, here they are if you'd like a read!

'I really enjoyed your art work. Very refreshing and spiritual.'

'Thank you for some really imaginative prints, especially 'Midsummer Night Fairground'

'A Lovely selection of artwork.'

'The most stimulating art work seen in a very long time. Although I am very old, I am going to emulate your free imagination'

'Have enjoyed seeing your innovative art work, very inspiring'

'Entering the world of make believe- what a refreshing show of work - often quite whimsical I think with a certain charm of youthfulness, some images are very illustrative and I am sure they could be part of a story which needs to unfold. We all enjoyed.'

What lovely comments, they made me so happy.

Here is a photo from the exhibition, if you're in the area, and would like to have a look, the pictures are up for another week.

If you'd like to browse my whole collection of prints you can go to my website right here

#justacard

Started by the very talented Sarah Hamilton of 'Sarah Hamilton Prints' and supported by the fabulous Mollie Makes and The Design Trust to encourage people to buy #justacard from independent stores or sites to help stimulate the growth of small independent businesses.

Just a small purchase like a card or print from a small independent retailer can mean you make some one's day, boost confidence and encourage artists going it alone to keep on going (yes, I speak from experience!) rather than just be another number on an order sheet of a big high street chain.

So go on, why not buy #justacard from a small business today? And make someone's day! I guarantee you'll find some truly beautiful art work out there once you start looking.

You can see my collection of hand illustrated cards right here , and follow this fantastic movement on twitter, just search for #justacard.

What do you think of this idea? Do you normally buy from independent retailers? Which one's are your favourites? I'd love to hear, just leave a comment below.

Noah's Ark Commission

I was recently asked to paint a picture for a little boy's bedroom based on Noah's ark. I sent over some preliminary sketches and the idea with all the animals making their way over to the ark to take shelter from the rain was the favourite.

I decided to add the words 'The adventure is about to begin' across the sky. Being a mummy of three, I know all too well what an adventure having children is and a truly magical one too.

I wanted the picture to tell a story at the same time as being interesting for him to look at , so lots of little details for him to find. I also wanted it to be able to last him a long time, so tried to make it bright and fun but not too 'babyish' so he can enjoy it for years to come.

Check out the pictures below to see how it turned out, I was really pleased with the final outcome, hope you like it too!

I'd love to hear what you think about the painting, just leave a comment below. If you would like to get in touch about a commission, I'd love to hear from you , just email me at sarah@sarahlovellart.co.uk , you can also see my commissions page here .

BRAND NEW! UK Minibeast Colouring Book

I am really excited to tell you all about my brand new 'UK Minibeast Colouring Book' . My third, self published book!

I am so happy I now have three, although I plan to do many more colouring books, three seems like a good number to have, after all three is the magic number!

The new book features 20 different bugs, most of which you will find in your garden or local park. Accompanying each hand drawn minibeast are three fun facts so you can learn about what you are colouring in. I certainly learnt a lot about these little creatures, and they are amazing, I even got a bit more fond of slugs (I hate slugs!), did you know that the average garden is home to about 20,000 slugs? I think my favourite is the dragonfly, a master of flight, who has been around since the time of the dinosaurs.

The book, would make a great gift for anyone who loves colouring: young and young at heart, check out the pictures below, and click on the link at the bottom to bag yourself a copy.

If you like the look of this little book, head over to my Website to read more about it and my other colouring books , and buy yourself or some one special a copy!

Recent Commission- Unicorns in the Forest

I was recently asked to paint a picture for two lovely girls' bedroom. The girls (8 and 5) wanted unicorns (one of my favourite things to paint), stars, a rainbow and flowers. Right up my street! I couldn't wait to get started, and enjoyed every minute of painting it, take a look below to see how it turned out....

I was really really pleased with how the painting turned out, and the girls love it too, they have claimed a unicorn each, and have it close to their bed so the unicorns can look after them as they sleep!

This is also going to be available as a print soon, to add to my prints collection. You can have a look here at the collection available right now.

If you would like a commission, I would love to hear from you, you can email me at sarah@sarahlovellart.co.uk , you can also have a look at my commissions page here .

I'd also love to hear what you think of this painting , just leave a comment below.

Commission in the Countryside

'Dolliedaydream' also known as Keri Gray got in touch with me after seeing my illustrations via twitter on my website and in Arkadia magazine. She writes a lovely blog all about fashion and her life by the sea in Dorset.

She needed a new blog header, and of course I was more than happy to oblige. I love taking on commissions and bringing people's ideas into reality.

This drawing also coincided nicely with a family week away in Herefordshire. Drawing and painting is never a chore for me, always a pleasure, so having some time with some extra pairs of hands to help with our 3 little lovelies gave me the opportunity to get drawing!

Have a look at some of the things we got up to in beautiful Herefordshire, and of course Keri's new blog header......

Meeting some wriggly friends

Beautiful girl with some beautiful daffodils in the woods

West Midlands safari park!

Pony riding.

Ludlow Castle

The evenings and time at the holiday house spent drawing, and here's the finished blog header.

Keri wanted to include her love of yoga (she's also a yoga teacher) , life by the sea with her little boy and Chinese Crested powderpuff dog, and of course her passion for fashion. She also requested that I use a colour palette inspired by french patissiere 'La Laduree' who make amazing macaroons in beautiful pastel colours.

So, there is the finished piece, I am very happy to say she loved it, and I keep having a peep at her blog and feeling a little bit famous, and very pleased with how it looks!

You can have a look at my commissions page here and if you would like me to make your ideas a reality with my pencils, pens and paint, then I would be thrilled to hear from you. You can get in touch by email at sarah@sarahlovellart.co.uk or via facebook or twitter .

Thanks for reading, would love to hear what you think if you would like to leave a comment below.
