BRAND NEW 'I believe in unicorns' Brooch

A few weeks ago, I noticed a few lovely brooches / pins on Etsy where I have a shopfront too, I love browsing on Etsy , there are so many talented artists and makers there, and I have found some wonderful gifts for friends and for myself!

These little brooches really caught my eye, and set me thinking that I could add a brooch to my collection in time for Christmas with one of my unicorns on, to begin with, I have plans for more designs too. If you know my work and read this blog regularly, then you will know I am a big fan of unicorns and they feature often in my illustrations. So I decided to go with one of my most popular designs which is available as a print and a card in my shop 'I believe in unicorns'  it seemed to lend itself well to the brooch idea.

I got in touch with a very friendly and helpful company called Made by Cooper, who make these lovely pins, and were able to put what I had in mind into production, and now I have these beautiful little enamel unicorn pin brooches , and they are now available to buy on my website.

They are proving very popular so far, below are some pictures of the brooch, and you can get your right here they make ideal stocking fillers.

Take some unicorn magic along with you each day with this little brooch

The back has a strong pin and a simple clutch fastening to secure it to your clothing.

The brooch comes mounted on a card with the same unicorn on, taken from my original painting.

My daughter wearing hers, which she is very pleased with! A few of  my friends have bought them for their children, but they are a great gift for grown ups too, I love mine, and you're never too old to believe in unicorns!

Dorset Team Etsy Fair......2 more sleeps!

I'm getting more and more excited as Saturday draws near, as the 3rd of December is the day of the Dorset Team Etsy Christmas fair at the Allendale Centre in Wimborne, open from 10am until 4pm.

It is lovely being part of the Dorset Etsy team, I love running my own business, but it means I spend time going it alone. Being part of a 'team' connects me to a wonderful Etsy community of other very talented and creative people, who are all coming together on Saturday. The Allendale centre will be buzzing on Saturday with creativity, happiness and community, and there'll be no better place to start your Christmas shopping.

I'll be in great company, selling along side other members of the Dorset Etsy team, such as The Cat in the Shoe with her beautiful handmade textile sculptures,  Nicolette Dawn with her amazing wire animal sculptures, Love From Hetty and Dave with their lovely hand crafted leather jewellery and accessories, and Little Vagaries with their magical illustrated products, to name a few.

On top of finding some truly original and hand made items for some gift ideas, you know that you will be making some one's day by buying their products.

You can check out all the information on the fair on the Facebook page here.

I'll be there with all my hand illustrated cards, prints, colouring books and my brand new 'I believe in unicorns' brooches and limited edition print at a special price! Take a look below........Hope to see you there :)

BRAND NEW 'Into the Blossom' Limited Edition Giclee Print

Hi everyone,
Thanks for popping by to have a read about what I have been up to lately.
I have some exciting news about a brand new print from my original painting 'Into the Blossom'.
This painting started a while ago when some friends gave me a rather large (apx 1.5m square) canvas that they no longer wanted. It's not often you get given a canvas this big free of charge, so I was racking my brains for something to paint on it. It went through different stages and many layers of paint, some layers with some help from my three children!
After looking through some magazines and following my natural instincts to paint a unicorn and a fox ;) 'Into the Blossom' started to emerge. I wanted it to be something magical, and special as the original was for my daughter's bedroom (where it is now hanging) to give her magical dreams each night.
The final layer was done in a mixture of gouache and collage and then varnished to finish the whole thing off.
I have had a very limited edition run of 50 prints made, all printed locally, here in Dorset. The prints are 60cm x 60cm and are Giclee prints done on ultra smooth 280gsm fine art, acid free paper. It is printed with archival quality pigment colour-fast ink. So a very special print indeed , I hope you'll agree.
Here are some pictures of the finished print, if you think you'd like 'Into the Blossom' hanging on your wall, you can find it here . It'd make a wonderful present for some one special in your life....

I recently had a print framed and I'm so pleased with how it looks in this white frame :)

'Don't Forget to be Awesome' New Print by Sarah Lovell Art

I am not sure where I first heard 'Don't Forget to be Awesome' but as soon as I heard it, I liked it, and it stuck with me, a great thought to start each day.

Last year I did an on line course with the amazing Lilla Rogers. The course is called 'Make Art that Sells' and I had been thinking of doing it for a long time. I finally decided to do it, and didn't regret it! I LOVED it, it was just like going back to art school, except the students were all over the world. we had a facebook group to chat in and share ideas, it was such a great experience, and I would recommend it whole heartedly to anyone interested in making art that sells.

So, one of the weeks assignments was 'Wall Art', and part of the brief was to include some words. As soon as I read the brief, 'Don't Forget to be Awesome' popped into my head, and I knew I wanted to make a piece of art with these words. This print is the result of that week. I have the original in my hallway,  we see it each day we come down stairs, and it always puts a smile on my face.

I decided to make it available as a print to hopefully put a smile on your face too! You can purchase your print right here

The print is hand illustrated and printed here in Dorset on 260gram paper with biodegradable inks. Hope you like it, oh, and don't forget to be awesome.
